Love it, man. I noticed that as the track progresses, and as more elements are introduced the kick begins to lose definition to the point where by 00:36 it's right at the back of the mix. If that was your intention, all well and good, but if not (I noticed on your page you mentioned you're new to music making) maybe look into applying some side chain compression to keep it upfront in the mix. Depending on what DAW you're using you should be able to find plenty of tutorials on youTube to help with this. I hope this isn't discouraging. I love the track, and I'm checking out the rest of your stuff now. :-)

MaSterAsSter responds:

Thanks! I'm going to look into it now actually. I've heard about side chaining (is that right?) before. I never really looked into why it was so important or why i needed to do it. The same goes for the EQ, Just haven't been able to nail it down properly. x.x

Thanks again! :3

Nice little ditty here. The bright piano gives it a very 90's pop feel, which isn't a bad thing. It's as if the sawtooth at the beginning sets the listener up for a video game experience, and then at 00:18 90's pop outfit M People show up with the electric piano and say "Don't worry boys, we'll take it from here." It gave me a nice surprise :-)

P.S. And that kick drum is friggin' hard!

Getcheffy responds:

Very nice man. If you were modelling your kick on artists like Headhunterz, I'd say you friggin' nailed it. Well done. :-)

NovaOfTheXqonz responds:

:G Thanks so much! The melody's shape was actually from a remix Heady did :D

Nice work in progress. I loved to hear it again when its more fleshed out. The pitch drop at 00:38 works well to prepare the listener for the change of feel in the beat. I think there needs to be something like it again at 02:05 for the re-introduction of what feels like the dominant theme of this track. I'd say bringing in more soft pads and some light melodies coupled with some creative panning underneath the dubstep "wobble" would work well to widen the track and engage the listener. Keep at it. I like where its going. :-)

Thank you!!!

yes its far to be complete and this is the feedback i was looking for to read.

nice review bro =)

Nice tune. I'll get my only criticism out of the way first (and I hope it isn't discouraging). The beat is way too repetitive for me. I know repetition is a big part of electronic music, but after the first drop at 00:20 I was anticipating some variation on the beat, but it was just cut, copy, paste, and it feels like its fighting for attention against the other elements of the track that are introduced as it progresses. Again, I hope this isn't discouraging, because I really liked everything else about this track. I just felt myself saying to the beat "Change or piss off so I can hear the other parts!" Everything else is wicked though. The rhythm, the melodies, the 303-like synth at 01:20. Very cool.

As an afterthought (because I listened to this a few times now), maybe its just that the kick drum is too forward in the mix?

heysticks responds:

Fixed! I did it through laptop speakers originally... I then went home and messed with the levels a bit. Listen again, and see if it's better!

This is excellent. The way the beat gathers momentum, and the fast running arpeggios at 00:43? Magic! It makes me want to run. If you don't mind my asking, what program did you use to make this?

DiroNomer responds:

FL Studio 10 (Demo)

Thanks for the review :D
